Hand - Clapping

The secret of flamenco. Course of palmas (rhythmic hand-clapping), contratiempos, rhythms, metric structure and accents. Private lessons. All levels.

COURSE INFORMATION

The mystery of the compás is the main task of all flamenco fans.

Compás & Palmas is a private course in which we put within your reach the learning of the accents and the metric structure of flamenco, aspects that sometimes can be a little complicated for us.

Mastery of the compás is fundamental to the practice of flamenco: rhythms, counter-beats, structure of singing, playing and dancing to accompany...

Only by internalizing these structures and rhythms will we be able to improvise on the music.

The classes are offered for all levels and are a perfect complement to any other guitar or dance course.

For beginner levels we will start by teaching the placement of the palms of the hands to get the right sound. You will learn how to differentiate between an open palm clap and a deaf palm, as well as when to use one or the other.

You will be able to differentiate the palos through their metric structure, such as 4-beat Tangos, or all those governed by 12-beat compasses, such as the Soleá, Alegrías, Bulerías, Guajiras...

Francisco Morales "The Flea"

This great flamenco guitarist is considered to be a permanent apprentice of the guitar. His vocation unites him with his innate sense for the rhythms of flamenco: the beat and the rhythm have no secrets for El Pulga.

Since 1994 he has been teaching at Taller Flamenco, an activity he only interrupts to attend to his professional commitments in Portugal, where he has his flamenco company "Serva la Bari". Currently, he teaches guitar and compas & palmas in Taller Flamenco.

Laura Roman

She is a singer from Malaga who lives in Seville, where she lives and transmits her singing. Her taste for purity and singing to the beat stands out: Bulerías and Tangos, and she is a great bearer of the genius of Malaga's singing.

In Taller Flamenco he gives singing lessons and accompaniment for the guitar.

Javier Prieto

Percussionist, as well as a restless and innovative artist. Javier Prieto approaches the rhythms of flamenco with a very broad perspective, and has an extraordinary capacity for teaching.

He teaches cajón and compás & palmas for all levels.

Mariano Clavijo

Flamenco percussionist from Jerez de la Frontera. Mariano Clavijo is a restless young man with a solid academic background, with a PhD in Flamenco from the University of Seville.

His interest and knowledge are useful to develop his career as a percussionist in several flamenco companies, a career that alternates with his work in teaching percussion for flamenco.

Since 2004 he has been teaching flamenco cajón. In addition to his excellent training, he brings to them his magnificent teaching skills. In his classes he works with basic principles of percussion for flamenco, which are key to the training of a percussionist.

Carmen Rasero "La Trianerita"

Carmen has been an advanced student at Matilde Coral's school, where she was studying from 1982 to 1995. She has received the teachings of great masters: besides having learned with Matilde Coral herself, she has also learned with other greats such as Javier Latorre Mario Maya, Merche Esmeralda, Javier Baron, and more recently Ángeles Gabaldón and Belén Maya.

With her years of experience in Taller Flamenco, Carmen has become an expert in the beginner's level of flamenco dance and technique.
